Who Has Been Buying Flexiroam Limited (ASX:FRX) Shares?

We often see insiders buying up shares in companies that perform well over the long term. Unfortunately, there are also plenty of examples of share prices declining precipitously after insiders have sold shares. So shareholders might well want to know whether insiders have been buying or selling shares in Flexiroam Limited (ASX:FRX).

What Is Insider Selling?

It is perfectly legal for company insiders, including board members, to buy and sell stock in a company. However, rules govern insider transactions, and certain disclosures are required.

Insider transactions are not the most important thing when it comes to long-term investing. But equally, we would consider it foolish to ignore insider transactions altogether. For example, a Harvard University study found that 'insider purchases earn abnormal returns of more than 6% per year.

Flexiroam Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

In the last twelve months, the biggest single purchase by an insider was when insider Aik Yeoh bought AU$775k worth of shares at a price of AU$0.04 per share. That means that an insider was happy to buy shares at around the current price of AU$0.045. While their view may have changed since the purchase was made, this does at least suggest they have had confidence in the company's future. While we always like to see insider buying, it's less meaningful if the purchases were made at much lower prices, as the opportunity they saw may have passed. Happily, the Flexiroam insiders decided to buy shares at close to current prices.

While Flexiroam insiders bought shares last year, they didn't sell. You can see the insider transactions (by individuals) over the last year depicted in the chart below. By clicking on the graph below, you can see the precise details of each insider transaction!

Insider Ownership of Flexiroam

I like to look at how many shares insiders own in a company, to help inform my view of how aligned they are with insiders. Usually, the higher the insider ownership, the more likely it is that insiders will be incentivised to build the company for the long term. It's great to see that Flexiroam insiders own 78% of the company, worth about AU$6.0m. I like to see this level of insider ownership, because it increases the chances that management are thinking about the best interests of shareholders.
