Businesses brace for budget fallout

The Northern Territory Chamber of Commerce hopes small businesses will survive the repercussions of tomorrow's mini budget.

The Government has already announced electricity, water and sewerage prices will rise significantly from next year.

The chamber's Greg Bicknell says retailers are already facing multiple problems, including pressure to increase wages to retain staff, increased power costs and a drop in spending.

"They're already suffering from the impacts of online spend," he said.

"They'll be impacted, very much impacted, by the lack of money people will have available that's going to be saved up to pay for the increase in power prices."
