Bullish Capstar Financial Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ:CSTR) insiders filled their treasuries with US$993k worth of stock over last year

Generally, when a single insider buys stock, it is usually not a big deal. However, when several insiders are buying, like in the case of Capstar Financial Holdings, Inc. (NASDAQ:CSTR), it sends a favourable message to the company's shareholders.

While insider transactions are not the most important thing when it comes to long-term investing, logic dictates you should pay some attention to whether insiders are buying or selling shares.

Capstar Financial Holdings Insider Transactions Over The Last Year

Over the last year, we can see that the biggest insider purchase was by Chief Financial Officer Denis Duncan for US$380k worth of shares, at about US$18.98 per share. We do like to see buying, but this purchase was made at well below the current price of US$21.98. While it does suggest insiders consider the stock undervalued at lower prices, this transaction doesn't tell us much about what they think of current prices.

Does Capstar Financial Holdings Boast High Insider Ownership?

Looking at the total insider shareholdings in a company can help to inform your view of whether they are well aligned with common shareholders. I reckon it's a good sign if insiders own a significant number of shares in the company. Capstar Financial Holdings insiders own 22% of the company, currently worth about US$109m based on the recent share price. I like to see this level of insider ownership, because it increases the chances that management are thinking about the best interests of shareholders.
