Bukayo Saka injury: Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta offers new update before Manchester United clash

Bukayo Saka injury: Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta offers new update before Manchester United clash

Arsenal are hopeful that Bukayo Saka will be fit to face Manchester United on Thursday.

Saka limped off after scoring during Saturday’s 2-0 win over Newcastle at Emirates Stadium after feeling some discomfort in his thigh.

Arsenal have assessed the 20-year-old England international this week and Arteta provided an update on his fitness ahead of the trip to Old Trafford.

"We have the doubt with Bukayo and another few knocks that we got against Newcastle,” said Arteta. "I am hopeful, but we don’t know [if Saka can play].

“It is a really short turnaround and the player has to be comfortable playing with a little injury.”

Saka has been an instrumental figure for Arsenal in their recent upturn in form so the news that no major damage has been done is a boost ahead of the busy Christmas period.

Arsenal travel to Old Trafford sitting fifth in the Premier League, level on points with fourth-placed West Ham, who host Brighton on Wednesday night.
