With a week of NBA basketball in the books for the 2021 season, all eyes still remain on Kevin Durant’s return to play and his debut with the Brooklyn Nets. Chris Haynes is joined by Seerat Sohi this week and they kick off the show debating if KD’s Nets have already vaulted themselves past the Milwaukee Bucks as the team to beat in the east. (2:05)

Over the weekend, the Houston Rockets made their debut after their home opener was postponed due to COVID protocols. James Harden dropped 44 points in an OT loss to the Portland Trailblazers, proving that the internet can get all the laughs it want at Harden’s weight & extracurricular activities — but he’s still one of the best playmakers in the league. Chris & Seerat discuss how the spectre of COVID loomed over this game, Carmelo Anthony’s status, and whether Harden would thrive with in Miami Heat’s rigorous culture. (14:10)

On Sunday, the Los Angeles Clippers were blown out 124-73 at home by the Dallas Mavericks – undoubtedly an embarrassing outcome after decisively beating the Los Angeles Lakers on opening night. Seerat explains why the Clippers shouldn’t be trusted. (26:15)

Later in the show, Chris & Seerat learn of the NBA fining Philadelphia Sixers president Daryl Morey $50,000 for violating the league’s anti-tampering policy with a now-deleted tweet celebrating James Harden. (37:30)

Finally, they close out the show discussing the 1-2 Golden State Warriors and if the team can overcome the lack of chemistry between newer pieces like Andrew Wiggins and Kelly Oubre Jr. and the team’s star Steph Curry. Can Draymond Green’s return from injury help the situation or will Green be dealt sooner rather than later? (42:00)
