Bride-to-be slams sister over her ‘ridiculous’ wedding day outfit selection: ‘She’s decided to be purposefully difficult’

·2-min read

A woman is wondering if she is a bridezilla for enforcing her wedding dress code.

She explained the situation on Reddit’s “Am I the A******” forum. Her sister, who is a bridesmaid, is refusing to wear the requested shoe color at the ceremony. The Reddit poster can’t figure out if she or her sister is in the wrong.

“This is ridiculous,” the bride wrote. “But I need someone to tell me if I’m being a bridezilla or not. My fiancé and I are paying for the majority of the bridal party stuff. We are paying for: bridesmaids’ dresses, hair, makeup and jewelry [along with the] groomsmen’s suits, belts, shoes and cuff links. We’re not paying for the bridesmaid shoes because we don’t care what shoes they wear as long as they’re a light and neutral color. Both of my sisters and a close friend are my bridesmaids.”

Then one of her sisters dropped a bomb on her about the wedding dress code.

“One of my sisters announced that she would be wearing black boots to the wedding,” the bride said. “I explained that I would like her to wear a light neutral-colored shoe instead because it would go better with the color scheme. She insisted on black. My mother backed her up and said she didn’t understand why black was an issue. I offered to lend my sister a pair of mine if she doesn’t already have some (we’re the same size shoe and I have a fair few pairs in those colors). But my sister wants to wear her black boots and mother insists I’m being completely unreasonable.”

Reddit users were on the bride’s side here.

“Seems like she’s decided to be purposefully difficult,” one person wrote

“That’s not even a wild request it’s literally part of the dress code,” another commented

“The bride is willing to lend the shoes… the sister should just wear the damned things,” someone said
