Bride reveals unthinkable message from boss that ruined her wedding day: 'Petty'

Here's how a manager 'ruined' what was meant to be one of the happiest day's of a woman's life.

It’s supposed to be the happiest day of your life. But for one bride, her wedding day turned into a nightmare after she learned she had been fired from her job just hours after walking down the aisle.

The bride, named Amanda, shared she had only been working at the unnamed company for four months when she took time off to get married in Cyprus. On the day of her wedding - just half an hour after the ceremony - she received a text from her boss telling her she’d been let go.

“She started with the message, ‘I hope your wedding went well and you had a nice time away’,” Amanda shared on The Ben Askins Show.

Amanda, who didn’t see the message until later in the evening, said it continued: "I just wanted to let you know that the decision has been made to unfortunately let you go. An email has been sent to your personal email address detailing this. I am really sorry that it didn't work out and wish you all the best moving forward x."

Amanda said she first realised something was up when she realised she was no longer in the company's WhatsApp groups. Once she read the message she said she "just gasped".

She then went to check her emails, where her boss said she had been terminated “as we unfortunately feel your performance doesn’t meet the expectations we require for the role”.

Amanda shared she was still in her probation period so the company was legally able to terminate her employment for any reason. But the bride told Askins she wasn’t given any indication her performance wasn’t up to scratch.

She said she thinks her employer took the “coward’s way out” by firing her when she was on leave, considering they had an opportunity to do it in person as had been the case for other people.

She said she wished she’d checked the company’s reviews on Glassdoor before taking the job because one of them said “run”. During her time at the company, she claimed three other people were also fired within their probation period.

Askins said Amanda’s story was “one of the worst things [he’d] ever heard” and said she had “every right to be absolutely livid” with her workplace.

In the comments of Askins’ YouTube video, people were in full support of the bride, including a guest at the wedding.

“I was front row to this sh** show. Ruined her day. I was so angry for the couple. She was given glowing feedback while working and then to have this on her wedding day,” he said.

“Firing her on her wedding day is the most petty thing I have heard yet,” another added.

“The only thing that surprises me about bosses is that they find new ways to make us lose hope in humanity,” a third added.
