Coles and Woolworths each week take 50 per cent off the price of a range of grocery items.

They are hoping customers would be lured in by the steep discounts then spend lots on other full-price products once they're in the store.

The half-price specials also differentiate Woolworths and Coles to emerging threat Aldi. The German budget retailer's weekly specials are worthy of consideration, but the discounts are never as heavy as 50 per cent off.

Once again Yahoo Finance has done the run-around on your behalf to select the best half-price bargains for the coming week. Seeing the deals from both Coles and Woolworths all in one place will assist you to choose which supermarket to visit.
