Best Woolworths, Coles 50% off deals this week

A bunch of items are sold for half-price at Woolworths and Coles each week.

The supermarkets don't make much money off these deals – they're all about enticing customers into their store. Any shopper within their doors is not spending with their rival, they figure.

Coles and Woolworths also use the 50 per cent off deals as a point-of-difference to fast-rising challenger Aldi. The German budget supermarket does have its own weekly specials, but the discounting never approaches half-price.

Yahoo Finance has again compiled the best half-price deals from both Woolworths and Coles to help you decide where to go this week. The prices below apply from Wednesday January 29 to Tuesday February 4 inclusive:
