Australians love Aldi to the point where research last year found the typical shopper had "an emotional connection" to the budget supermarket.
It's the sort of loyalty that Cole and Woolworths can only dream about.
Aldi has managed to get to this point by deliberately establishing a public image of consistently low prices. Trust among the shopping public is now very high, even though factually this image is not necessarily true.
It's a tactic that's worked like a charm since the German retailer came to Australia 19 years ago.

Use it to plan your weekly shop, but keep in mind that Aldi's grocery discounting is never as heavy as Coles and Woolworths' half-price deals.
