“Everything I touch turns to sold,” was one of many catchphrases of the late Stuart Baggs ("the brand"), a much-loved candidate on The Apprentice in 2010.

Joint estate agents Aston Chase and Savills will be hoping that they possess the magic touch when it comes to selling Victory House in Hampstead – which also starred in the hit BBC TV show which has run for 16 years.

The red brick Victorian property on Daleham Gardens was used as the ‘Apprentice Mansion’ in the 12th series in 2016 series to put up characters such as Burnley-raised Jessica Cunningham (who described herself as the female Jim Carey in her audition video) and the winner, cake company owner Alana Spencer.

Covering 10,409 sq ft, the house has six bedrooms, four reception rooms, a cinema, a wellbeing centre with a spa and pool, gym and steam room.

With a 170 ft long garden and a reflection pool, there was plenty of space for the candidates to sit and contemplate the day’s task and the latest firing by Lord Alan Sugar.

Built in 1882, the vast family home has been launched to the market for £16,500,000.

The luxurious property underwent a seven-year overhaul before filming and went on sale afterwards for £11,950,000 through the agent Marcus Parfitt. It was available to rent at the time via Phillip Harrod for £40,000 a month – Lord Sugar’s pot of investment (£250,000) could almost be wiped out on six months’ rent.

The renovation included the installation of in-built smart technology such as Helvar computer-controlled lighting, Creston audio-visual home entertainment systems and electric blinds throughout. The cinema screen is 2.8 metres wide.

Victory House was built for the Bowlby Family. Edward Bowlby CBE (1907 – 1990) was the biographer of Charles Darwin and his father Sir Anthony (1855 – 1929) was royal surgeon to King Edward VII and King George V.

Daleham Gardens is well-regarded as one of the premium roads in Hampstead and famous residents have included comedian James Corden, Oasis frontman Liam Gallagher and author John Le Carre.

"It is well located for the thriving Belsize Park which, during the pandemic, became hugely valued by locals. The house represents an outstanding opportunity for anyone looking to buy a substantial lateral family house only moments from St John’s Wood and Primrose Hill, yet arguable it represents better value for money," says estate agent Mark Pollack of Aston Chase.

The house is a 13-minute walk to Belsize Park underground station and is on sale with Aston Chase and Savills.
