Abbie Chatfield talks sexuality and self-love

Former star of The Bachelor Abbie Chatfield has opened up about sexuality and self-love.

The It's A Lot podcast host talked about why she now identifies as queer after coming out as bisexual after her stint on Bachelor In Paradise in 2020.

"Now I identify as queer not bi," the 25-year-old revealed at the launch of The Body Shop’s 'Museum of Self Love' at Bondi Beach, Sydney on Thursday morning.

Abbie went on to say how she felt like there was a lot of pressure on her to be equally attracted to men and women which she found problematic as it excluded non-binary and trans people.

"I always felt confused about that whole thing myself. And I now have to let go of that idea that I'm bi and move on to being queer.

"There's been a lot of stages to my sexuality and me as a person, understanding my morals and who I am. I'd love to be able to tell 'little me' that it's ok to let go of parts [of yourself] that you loved so dearly before."

The Museum of Self Love features a collection of unique personal objects from inspiring Aussies, each telling a story of self-love.

Abbie chose to lend a necklace once owned by her grandmother, who she described as "very intelligent and loving".

'Secret's out'

A week earlier, Abbie launched her very own sex toy in collaboration with 'female sexual wellness brand' Vush.

"The secret is out!!! My collab with @vush_official is finally here... the G-SPOT Vibrator we all need," Abbie wrote on her Instagram.

During a candid — and at times X-rated! — Instagram live, reigning I'm A Celebrity jungle queen Abbie opened up about what went into creating her eponymous adult product.

She went on to answer fan questions about the orange colour (she wanted something 'gender-neutral') and about the floral pattern (orchids represent sex and power, she explained).

Just like on her frank and open podcast, Abbie wasn't afraid to get personal and revealed that not only has she tested out the toy but it's 'changed' her approach to self-love and sex.

'I was slut-shamed'

She wrapped up the 37-minute Q&A by reflecting on the backlash she copped during her 2019 stint on The Bachelor for being 'too sexual' with Matt Agnew.

"On The Bachelor, I was slut-shamed, I was told I was too sexual," Abbie stated. "It's amazing that I have this amazing, amazing platform and all of you who support me and appreciate me for my sexuality."

Abbie's Bachie pals were full of praise and enthusiasm for her latest business venture in the comments section.

"So proud of you!" gushed Jessica Brody from Matt Agnew's 2019 season.

"No pun intended but this is a literal vibe," quipped Rachael Arahill.

"Chookas chick!" wrote former Bachelorette Angie Kent. "Thanks for my orange treatie. Can’t wait to try the bad gal out."
