Yahoo Finance Automatic slicer cuts apples into perfect wedges instantly
Murre Technologies supplies food-processing equipment around the globe. The Netherlands-based company makes industrial machines that automate cutting, peeling, dipping and sorting fruits, vegetables, seaweed and seafood — and it’s weirdly very soothing to watch the process.
For example, its cutting and coring machine turns fresh apples into perfect little wedges instantly.
“The semiautomatic machine allows cutting of apples, pears, kiwis, oranges, pineapples, melons, tomatoes, aubergines, courgettes, cucumbers, cauliflowers, etc. in different shapes (slices, wedges, sticks, diamonds) and different sizes,” the company website stated.
Murre Technologies shared a demo of the equipment in action.
In the YouTube video, red apples were fed into the machine in rows of eight. Then a robot claw lifted the apples from each row and transported the fruits into the coring section. The cores were removed, then the machine stamped the apples into sliced sections.
Well, that’s certainly one way all those pre-packaged bags of apple slices get made.
“What is more, apple wedges have always been an ingredient in fresh fruit salad trays together with melons, pineapples and kiwifruits,” Virginia Cascella, expert in the fresh-cut sector, told Murre. “The main destination for bagged apple wedges are school, public and company canteens, the big retail chain and the hospitality and restaurant sector.”
