The priciest Airbnbs in Australia have been revealed and staying just one night at some of the luxe properties will set you back nearly $25,000.

Four of the most expensive Airbnbs are located in New South Wales, three in Victoria and three in Queensland, the report by S Money found.

Topping the list was the ‘Crypto Castle’ in South Coogee, which was bought by Finder co-founder Fred Schebesta for nearly $17 million in May 2021.

Crafted from concrete, steel, stone and glass, the ocean-front property was originally designed in 1994 to look like a moated castle floating above the ocean. But if you want to enjoy the stunning views, it’ll set you back $24,861 for one night.

Next on the list was Richard Branson’s Makepeace Island in Noosa. The luxury getaway was originally developed as a private retreat for the family and friends of owners Richard Branson and Virgin Australia co-founder Brett Godfrey.

Rounding out the top three was Rivermead Estate in the Gold Coast hinterland. The luxe property spans 55 acres (22 hectares) of hinterland and features six suites in the Rivermead House plus a pool guest house, as well as luxuries including a home gym, day spa and sauna.

The spectacular property is often used for private luxury stays, bespoke events and photo and film shoots and will set you back $13,586 per night.

Looking further abroad, S Money found the most expensive Airbnb in the world was illusionist David Copperfield’s Musha Cay island in the Bahamas at $88,800 per night.

Located in Copperfield Bay, Musha Cay is arguably one of the most luxurious private islands in the world. It includes five guest houses, 11 islands and 40 secluded sugar sand beaches.
