Australian-made cannabis honey is coming soon

Australian company Meluka Health is closer to having a honey produced by bees pollinating on cannabis plants.

ASX-listed EVE Investments, which has 50% of Meluka Health, announced today that production for an Australian organic hemp seed honey product has been completed.

The honey will be sold under the Meluka brand and will be ready for wholesale distribution by the end of this year and in retail outlets in the first quarter of 2018.

"The Hemp Seed Honey incorporates the health benefits of Hemp Seed which has a concentrated balance of proteins, essential fats, vitamins and enzymes combined with a relative absence of sugar, starches and saturated fats," says EVE Investment.

"When combined with Medic Honey’s quality raw honey it produces a product with truly unique health benefits and an exceptional flavour profile."

Among the other premium products being worked on by Medic Honey, a subsidiary of Meluka Health, is a medicinal cannabis honey produced by bees pollinating on hemp or medicinal cannabis plant nectar.

The hemp seed honey will be marketed into the US by distribution company Naturally Australian Products.

"As a Californian company we have seen first‐hand the growth in demand for Hemp and Cannabis related products, when this is combined with the demand for organic Australian honey we think this product is well suited to meet this consumer interest," says Robyn Ingersole, founder of Naturally Australian Products.

In August, EVE announced it had acquired a 50% interest in Meluka Health for $740,000.

A short time ago, EVE shares were up 14.2% to $0.008.
