This Australian company is taking over former Toys 'R' Us locations -- and it's about to open the biggest toy store in NSW

A massive toy store is set to open in Bankstown, in Sydney's west, in a former Toys 'R' Us location, just months after the company went into liquidation and closed all 44 Australian stores.

Toymate will open this Saturday in the Home Central shopping centre, and will cover 1,800 square metres of retail space -- making it the biggest toy store in New South Wales.

Toymate founder and director Danny Bloom says, "the closure of past iconic and top selling Toys 'R' US stores have allowed Toymate to now be in locations they weren’t able to before."

As many as 700 people lost their jobs when Toys 'R' Us went into liquidation in August.

The closure of Australian Toys 'R' Us stores follows the collapse of the US company, which filed for bankruptcy protection in March this year and started the the process of closing its 735 stores across America.

Toymate will also open in the old Toys ’R’ US Castle Hill store later this month, with others to follow.
