Australia’s billion dollar suburbs revealed

Australia’s billion dollar suburbs revealed

New data reveals there are 64 Australian suburbs which are home to the super-rich, with combined incomes of over $1 billion.

Unsurprisingly, 41 of the 64 on the list are in NSW alone – the remainder is split between Victoria and WA with 17 and 6 suburbs each respectively.

Mosman, on the city's lower north shore, took the crown with Australia's highest combined neighbourhood income – an ample $2.71 billion in 2012-13 – according to recently published data from the Bureau of Statistics.

Double Bay-Bellevue Hill is close behind in second place, with collective earnings of $2.46 billion.

Sydney’s Eastern suburbs, the north shore and northern beaches were all well represented in the list, along with a number of Sydney’s water-front suburbs such as Cronulla and Bundeena.

WA’s Perth City and Brighton in Victoria were the two neighbourhoods outside of NSW to make the very top of the list of the country’s super-rich suburbs, at third and fifth place with a $1.85 billion and $1.79 billion combined income from its residents respectively.

In fact, three Victorian suburbs appeared in the top 10 – residents of Kew and South Morang were listed as having combined incomes of around $1.5 billion each.
