Australia’s 10 most misunderstood jobs

The top 10 most misunderstood jobs in Australia have been revealed in recent research conducted by LinkedIn.

As part of its Bring in Your Parents Day, LinkedIn surveyed around 700 parents across Australia about their confidence providing definitions for a range of careers.

Only 19 per cent of workers currently say their parents are familiar with what they do for a living.

User Interface Designers took the top spot as the profession parents are least likely to understand, with only 9 per cent admitting they are confident providing a correct definition of the role.

The report has also revealed that traditional careers are best for avoiding confusion, with teacher (23 per cent), farmer (34 per cent) and architect (35 per cent) receiving the lowest percentages for parents not knowing what the job entailed.
