Australia Post, Fedex: Last dates to send Christmas presents

The deadline to send Christmas presents to loved ones is fast approaching.

Aussies have just weeks left to sort out their Christmas presents if they want to get them delivered to their loved ones in time.

Australia Post and Fedex have revealed their cut-off dates to send packages in Australia and overseas to ensure they arrive in time.

Here’s a rundown of the key dates.

What are the Australia Post cut-off dates?

Australia Post parcels should be sent by December 18 for standard post to most destinations within Australia. If sending via Express Post, the cut-off date is December 21.

People sending to or from Western Australia have until December 15 for standard post and December 20 for Express Post.

Residents in the Northern Territory have until December 14 for standard post and December 20 for Express Post.

What about international parcels?

If you are sending presents internationally, the cut-off dates are earlier.

For parcels being sent to China and most of Asia, the deadline is November 30 for standard shipping and December 7 for express shipping.

For major European destinations, it is December 1 for standard shipping and December 8 for express shipping.

For the UK, it is December 5 for standard shipping and December 12 for express shipping.

For parcels to the USA, the cut-off is December 6 for standard post and December 13 for express.

For Canada, it is December 4 for standard shipping and December 11 for express shipping.

For New Zealand, the deadline is December 7 for standard shipping and December 13 for express shipping.

What are the FedEx cut-off dates?

FedEx parcels should be sent by December 18 for Road Express shipments in Australia. However, residents of Western Australia and the Northern Territory need to get in earlier, with December 15 the last day for shipping.

If sending via the priority service, including overnight express service, the deadline is December 20.

The final deadline to collect shipments from a local FedEx facility is December 22.

What about international parcels?

For parcels being sent to New Zealand, the deadline for economy services, including International Economy and International Economy Freight is December 18.

For priority services, including International First, International Priority Express, International Priority, International Connect Plus and International Priority Freight, the deadline is December 20.

For other international shipping, the economy services deadline is December 13 and priority customers have until December 15.
