Aussie Airbnb guests saving hundreds on holidays: Here's how

For the first time ever, travellers can get 15% off Airbnb accommodation in Australia.

With the Easter travel season just around the corner, supermarket giant Coles is dipping its toes into the tourism market, partnering with Airbnb to offer 15 per cent off its gift cards for the accommodation platform.

Discounted Airbnb gift cards are now available online, through giftcards.com.au. The discount applies to variable load Airbnb eGift Cards only and customers are able to load up to $500 at a time, which will cost $425 with the discount.

The maximum order value on each card is $1,000 (but you'll only pay $850), and there is no limit to how many cards a customer can purchase. Another advantage is a lack of card fees, meaning there's no activation cost, which is usually around $5 for cards bought in-store.

Demand for short-stay accommodation has skyrocketed as Australians jump back into travel and, with prices rising to match, the discounted gift cards could make quite a difference to families looking to book an Easter vacation. A family could save hundreds of dollars on a trip to a holiday hotspot where week-long rates run into the thousands.

Coles general manager for Health and Home Deb Galle said the limited-time offer was a way to provide extra value for customers and would help ease budget pressures for Australians looking to book their next break.

"Finding time to get away with the family can seem like a luxury at the moment but we all need to take a break. Coles can help make the holiday budget go further with discounted Airbnb eGift Cards so you can spend less on your accommodation and put it towards making memories that matter together," Galle said.

"With Australian households facing rising cost-of-living pressures, Coles is committed to providing value to our customers – and in more ways than just during their grocery shop. So, we've partnered with Airbnb to help ease the cost of travel with upcoming Easter celebrations and school holidays."
