ASX: The local market is expected to open down this morning after Wall Street slid overnight.

This comes after the Australian share market ended modestly higher yesterday despite huge drops for lithium miners and electricity supplier Origin Energy.

Wall Street: US stocks lost ground during the first trading session of June after stern comments from JP Morgan boss Jamie Dimon warning of a "hurricane" bearing down on the US economy.

After rallying to start the trading session, the major averages slipped following solid readings on the US manufacturing sector, which were shortly followed by Dimon's comments at an investment conference.

Crypto: Cryptocurrency sponsorships in the NBA increased from US$2 million during the 2020-21 season to US$130 million this season, marking a 6,400 per cent increase year-over-year.

Trade: Growth in imports and exports is expected to have been more balanced in April after international trade proved a large drag on the economy in the first three months of the year.

The Australian Bureau of Statistics will release international trade figures for April today and economists' forecasts point to a $9 billion surplus in the month.

Energy crisis: Queensland businesses are calling for a state government rebate to offset surging power bills.

Households will be given a one-off $175 rebate after regulators determined annual bills could rise by at least 10.7 per cent to $1,620 in the southeast and by 9.2 per cent to $1,290 in regional Queensland in 2022/23.

Star casino: A lawyer making a closing case to an inquiry into The Star Sydney said a "litany" of problems with a Chinese debit card scheme for VIP patrons showed the venue was not fit to hold a casino licence.

The NSW gaming authority inquiry examined claims that ASX-listed Star Entertainment enabled suspected money laundering, organised crime, fraud and foreign interference at its Sydney casino.

WFH: Former prime minister Julia Gillard has voiced concerns flexible working arrangements could render women "invisible" and see them miss out on promotions and career development.

World record: While many people are familiar with the Queen's record as the longest-reigning living monarch, she also holds a raft of other records, including appearing on the most number of currencies.

Ahead of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee, marking her 75-year reign, Guinness World Records revealed the records she currently holds.
