Apple has released a paid subscription version of its free News app that will give Australian readers access to hundreds of local as well as international titles.

For $14.99 a month, Aussie readers will gain access to Australian news mastheads such as The Australian, The Daily Telegraph, Herald Sun, The Courier Mail and The Advertiser.

Other popular lifestyle titles made available through the News+ app include Vogue, Australian Women’s Health, Elle, The Australian Women’s Weekly, Harper’s Bazaar Australia, GQ, Australian Men’s Health, Delicious and Australian Geographic.

The service has been launched in Australia after Apple partnered with News Corp, Bauer Media and Pacific Magazines (owned by Seven West Media).

International newspapers and magazines will also be available in Apple News+ including The Wall Street Journal, Los Angeles Times, The Times, The Sunday Times, National Geographic, Rolling Stone, Grazia and Hello!.

Forbes, Esquire, Rolling Stone, New York Magazine, The Hollywood Reporter, Empire and Grazia are also available through News+.

“Apple News+ adds an even more expansive collection of high-quality stories to the free experience of Apple News, which delivers current events coverage from trusted sources,” a statement from Apple said.

Through the Today and News+ tabs, subscribers will get tailored recommendations based on “both editorial curation and personalised suggestions that maintain user privacy”.

The app is designed to enhance photography and present custom-designed articles.

The subscription will be free for the first month, and cost $14.99 after the free trial ends.

Australia is the third country to have Apple News+ after it launched in the US and Canada in March this year.
