'Stop immediately': Chargers sold at Apple urgently recalled
Belkin chargers sold at Apple stores and online have been urgently recalled, after Energy Safety Victoria found a safety defect in some models.
The Australian Consumer and Competition Commission revealed on its product safety website that the Belkin Portable Wireless Charger and Stand, with the model number WIZ003, had a manufacturing defect.
The defect was found in the power supply unit, and could cause the charge to malfunction and overheat.
Users are at risk of fire or electric shock hazard, which could cause serious injury or death, the ACCC stated.
Consumers were warned to “immediately stop using the product”, and to contact Belkin Australia for a full refund and advice for disposal of the product.
“Belkin's Customer Advocacy team will then provide advice for safe disposal of the charger and provide instructions on the refund process,” the website states.
