One of the best ways to get inspired to tidy up your finances, or figure out how to get ahead in your career, is to read about it from the experts.

With 2019 coming to a close, Yahoo Finance took a look at Amazon’s top five best-selling business and money books - and your new must-reads for the new years:

1. The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People (infographics edition), by Stephen R. Covey

Although first published in 1989, Covey’s novel manages to captivate readers 25 years later - made clear by the fact it topped Amazon’s best-sellers list this year.

Now, with the added infographics, Covey’s seven habits are easier to understand and apply than ever.

2. Girl, Stop Apologizing, by Rachel Hollis

Hollis is a #1 New York Times best-selling author and, in this novel, she challenges women everywhere to let go of bad habits, and adopt new ones to grow, be confident and believe in themselves.

3. The Total Money Makeover, by Dave Ramsey

Most of us would be versed in the get-rich-quick schemes out there, but Ramsey arms his readers with tools to pay off debt, and secure a big nest egg for retirement.

4. The Phoenix Project, by Gene Kim, Kevin Behr and George Spafford

This novel follows an IT worker as he tries to fix his company’s mess in ninety days - or everyone loses their jobs. Readers will learn just what it takes to improve an organisation, and they’ll have a completely different outlook on the tech profession.

5. Never Split the Difference: Negotiating as if your life depended on it, by Chriss Voss and Tahl Raz

Voss joined the FBI as a hostage negotiator, and soon became its lead international kidnapping negotiator. In this book, he reveals the skills you need to negotiate when buying a car, discussing a new salary, buying a home, renegotiating rent and even deliberating with your partner.
