With the year coming to an end, the long-awaited “best of” lists have begun rolling in, and one of the latest to kick off the trend is Amazon with its coveted “Best Books of 2020” list.

Curated and compiled by Amazon book editors, this list includes titles that range across several categories from literature to cookbooks. The title that the esteemed group chose as the best novel of the year is the Charlotte McConaghy-authored self-discovery-themed Migrations — and Amazon shoppers say it’s a real “page-turner.”

In addition to being dubbed the best fiction title of the year by Amazon editors, Migrations received so much praise from respected publications throughout 2020.

The Washington Post shared that it is “filled with suspense and surprises,” while The New York Times called it “a nervy and well-crafted novel” that “lingers long after its voyage is over.”

Amazon editor Al Woodworth briefly explained why this book is worth the read, highlighting that it explores the themes of “adventure, darkness, love and loss,” making it the “best novel of 2020.”

“It’s impossible to put down as you learn about the life of Franny Stone, a sharp, flawed and determined woman who will stop at nothing to track down what she’s lost.” he wrote. “She’s on the run and on the loose, and it is one heck of a ride on the open seas.”

If you’re interested in reading this title that’s clearly a national hit, the Kindle version currently retails for 48 percent off the print list price. And currently, new Kindle Unlimited subscribers can get their first two months for just $4.99.
