NBA legend Allen Iverson had a storied life on the hardwood and credits his transition from high school to college for putting him on a path to reaching incredible heights in sport and culture. In an effort to ensure scholars who are now in a similar position are afforded the same opportunities, the 44-year-old has teamed up with sportswear juggernaut Reebok to give the future leaders of America a head start on their college admissions process.

Reebok, Iverson unveil Origins Pack & donations

Reebok is celebrating the Wednesday launch of their new Origins Pack, which features two new signature Allen Iverson sneakers. The brand is also announcing a special opportunity for rising seniors at Bethel High School, Iverson’s alma mater. Reebok will cover all college application fees for the 400+ students set to graduate in 2021, a benefit that will save hundreds for the eventual graduates of the Hampton, Virginia institution.

“Nothing should limit you from applying to any school you want to consider,” said Iverson. “By working with Reebok to cover the application costs of rising seniors at Bethel High, I want the next generation of game changers to see college as a route to success, whether they want to be an artist or a doctor.”

Ralph Saunders, Principal at Bethel High added: “I speak on behalf of the students, their families and the Hampton community when I say we are filled with gratitude from this Reebok donation. Allen Iverson is an integral part of this town, and we’re thrilled he continues to honor and support the school and community.”

In addition to the previous announcement, Reebok will provide select students across the country the same chance to have their college application fees covered. Beginning March 4, rising seniors can head to Reebok and submit an application.

The Reebok Origins Pack includes the drop of two sneakers, the Answer V and Question Mid, drawing inspiration from classic basketball silhouettes and modernizing them to serve as a warm tribute to Iverson’s high school and Georgetown University, where Iverson played college ball from 1994-1996.
