Yahoo Finance Aldi recalls popular Whoppers chocolate over hidden allergens
Aldi has pulled its popular Whoppers chocolate off its shelves after a number of undeclared allergens were found in the ingredients.
The discount supermarket chain is recalling the 141g chocolate as the ingredients of milk, wheat, barley, peanuts and tree nuts are not stated on the product.
The issue is down to a labelling issue that meant those allergens were not declared on the products, which were sold in Aldi stores all across the ACT and selected stores in NSW.
“Any consumers who have a milk, wheat, barley, peanuts and tree nuts allergy or intolerance may have a reaction if the product is consumed,” stated Food Standards Australia and New Zealand.
“Consumers who have an allergy or intolerance as listed above should not consume this product.”
Aldi said customers should return their Whoppers chocolate to “the place of purchase” for a full cash refund.
“We apologise for any inconvenience,” Aldi said in a post on Facebook.
“ALDI takes product quality and safety seriously.”
