A whole town is on sale for $342,000

A small South Dakota town in the US is up for sale, and going for a cheap price, reports the Rapid City Journal.

The "ghost town" of Swett was originally listed for $399,000 (A$546,000) about 16 months ago.

It's currently listed at $250,000 (A$342,000), according to real estate agent Stacie Montgomery.

Montgomery told the Journal that she has heard from many interested prospective buyers.

"Some of the types of individuals who have been interested in the past included people who wanted to be their own mayor, people who wanted to live off-grid, several production companies thinking about reality shows, hunters who wanted to create a hunting lodge, or somebody who wants to own a bar," she told the paper.

The unincorporated hamlet includes a gas station, museum, a bar and a store, per the report.
