8 things a shopping editor says you need for summer, so you don’t get FOMO

Our team is dedicated to finding and telling you more about the products and deals we love. If you love them too and decide to purchase through the links below, we may receive a commission. Pricing and availability are subject to change.

I can’t deny it — being a shopping editor really is a lot of fun.

A large part of my day is spent scrolling around the internet on the lookout for deals, new trends and more must-have products. So that means that I always have a pretty extensive wishlist of items that I want to buy for myself.

From wardrobe basics to new items that caught my eye, keep scrolling to check out eight stylish items I’ve added to my online cart over the last few weeks — and why you should get them too.

Long dresses are my go-to outfit during the summertime. Not only are they comfortable, but I love that all I need to complete my look is a cute pair of sandals and a bag — the dress does all the work! Free People makes some of the prettiest dresses IMO, and this midi style is no different. I mean, how cute are the woven buttons and ruffled hem?

2. Converse Floral Print Chuck Taylor All Star, $60

I haven’t worn a pair of Converse since high school, but I think these floral print high tops deserve a spot back in my closet. Just as versatile as my plain white sneakers, these canvas Converses are sure to add an unexpected touch to any outfit. Just FYI, Converses tend to run a bit large, so I’d suggest sizing down at least a half size.

3. Baboon to the Moon Go-Bag, $139

I first saw Baboon to the Moon’s products on Instagram and have since added several styles to my “saved” page. This carry-on-sized bag is perfect for those one-to-three-day trips and can be worn as a duffel bag or as a backpack. I’m obsessed with the brand’s color options and love all of the thoughtful features this TSA-approved bag has — think detachable shoulder straps, a waterproof shell, four pockets and more.

4. Alo Yoga Splendor Bra and High-Waist Biker Short Set, $104

Colorful activewear is a must-have during the summer, and this set is a great deal for just about $100. Alo Yoga makes high-quality clothes, so when I got served an Instagram ad of Kendall Jenner wearing this set, I knew I’d be thinking about it for weeks. The green apple color feels fresh, and a matched set is a great way to feel put together whether you’re at the gym or just hanging out at home.

5. The Beach People Isla Knit Hat, $105

I’ve talked about bucket hats and sun protection on In The Know plenty of times before, so this straw hat making my wishlist shouldn’t be a surprise. This 100% raffia crochet hat is the perfect middle ground between a flexible cotton bucket hat and a more delicate straw hat. The wide brim is super flexible, and this hat comes in two sizes (I have the L/XL size).

6. Frankie’s Bikinis Rose Knit Romper, $250

There’s no denying that this romper is a total splurge. And while it’s also a totally unnecessary purchase, I think it’s one of the most fun things on this list. Frankie’s Bikinis makes some of my favorite bathing suits, but the brand’s clothing section shouldn’t be overlooked either. This ombre/rainbow knit romper would be perfect to wear on a summer’s day when heading out to lunch or as a bathing suit coverup.

7. Eterne Ribbed Racerback Tank Top, $65

A white cotton tank top may seem a little basic to add to a summer wishlist, but I have the grey version of this tank and can say it’s truly the perfect tank top. While it’s a bit pricey at $65, the fit is so flattering, and the racerback keeps it feeling a little bit different than my regular ones. Buy it in your normal size.

8. Richer Poorer Women’s Boxer Brief Pack, $70 (Orig. $78)

I bought myself a three-pack of these boxers last month, and I already want to bring home more. These boxers are the perfect little sleep shorts IMO. They are cute, comfortable and come in a ton of colors. While you could wear them under clothes as regular underwear, they have pretty thick hems. Also, I think they run a bit small, so I’d recommend sizing one size up.
