As fun and exciting as the end of a year can be, it’s also really stressful. There’s holiday gift shopping, making travel arrangements, final exams, thesis papers and more.

With so much going on, it can be easy to just reach for anything that’s available and convenient when you’re hungry. That’s why it’s important to make healthy food choices before hanger kicks in, so when your stomach starts to growl you’ll always have something nutritious and delicious on hand.

If you need a little help setting yourself up for success when it comes to eating even just a little bit healthier, keep reading. Below are seven hacks that may really make a difference in your life.

Healthy Eating Hacks

1. Sign up for Amazon Prime Student.

There are lots of perks when you sign up for Amazon Prime Student. One that you should definitely take advantage of is fast, free delivery on tons of items on Amazon. And yes, that includes healthy snacks like KIND bars and Greek yogurt cups. Whenever you notice you're running low, just place an order and you'll have more tasty choices in your dorm room within a week or so.

2. Have your grocery delivered.

If you're not so good at remembering to actually go to the grocery store to stock your fridge, check out Amazon Fresh. It's Amazon's grocery delivery service that's available in select cities like New York and Seattle. It's free to use the service if you have a Prime Student account; plus, your membership can help you unlock extra savings at Whole Foods Market. 3. Invest in a PrepDeck.

Rather than wait until you're completely famished to start preparing something to eat, use a tool like the TikTok-famous PrepDeck to get your ingredients ready beforehand. That way when you start to get hungry, all you have to do is build your salad or throw things in a pan and you'll have a ready-to-eat meal in no time.

4. Buy reusable storage bags and containers.

Whether for leftovers or to keep unfinished snacks fresher for longer, food storage containers are an absolute must on your healthy eating journey. Stasher bags are a great replacement for traditional plastic zipper bags and this set of glass containers is a worthy investment. These are also great options for carrying healthy food when you're on the go. Rather than run to a fast food joint in between classes, pack yourself something more nutritious in one of these containers.

5. Stock up produce savers.

It goes without saying that fruits and veggies are a really important part of a well-balanced diet. Of course, watching them go bad before you can eat them is no fun. That's where these silicone food huggers come in. Use them to keep everything from avocados to apples from turning brown on you in a day or two.

6. Find a good cookbook.

Eating the same meals day in and day out isn't very exciting. If you only have a few healthy recipes in your repertoire, find a cookbook that gives you some inspo. More than 2,000 Amazon shoppers left ratings for The Well Plated Cookbook: Fast, Healthy Recipes You'll Want to Eat, so that's one to try. Healthy, Quick & Easy College Cookbook is another great pick, written just for students.

7. Order takeout the smart way.

Eating healthy doesn't mean you never get to order takeout. Umm, hello sweetgreen salads and harvest bowls! That said, you can still make good choices when you're going with delivery. What you order is important, but so is how you order. Did you know that you get access to free food delivery with your Prime Student account via GrubHub+ Student? It's true, you do. So go ahead and order that grain bowl, and save on delivery while you're at it.
