5 things you didn’t know about the new Cosmo boss

Michele Promaulayko returns to Cosmopolitan Magazine as its new editor-in-chief and takes over as editorial director of Seventeen from content-maven Joanna Coles. (Promaulayko was executive editor of Cosmopolitan from 2000 to 2008.) Here are five things you might not know about the new media queen.

She's not afraid to slow down.

"I have a health background and that opened me to meditation," says Promaulayko. "I'm trained in transcendental meditation and I see TCM as a productivity and stress reduction tool. Finding a method to decompress, whether it's hanging out with a friend, taking a bath, or meditating, is very important to me."

She's not afraid to throw one back, either. It helps her maintain perspective.

When she's angry, she'll cool off with something shaken, or maybe stirred. "I have a cocktail!" says Promaulayko. "Take a break to have a glass of wine. Generally, all things pass!"

She adores it. "I love Instagram and Snapchat," she says. "While I'm more a user of Instagram, I'm a voyeur on Snapchat."

She can't stand cliches, so journalists, don't ever present a draft to her with phrases like "this just in," or "if you've been hiding under a rock."

Cosmo is proud of its status as the world's largest young women's magazine. To all former, current, and potential readers, Promaulayko's message is simple: "We want to be there at every critical point in your life. So come to us for advice. We've got your back!"
