5 of the best exercise bikes to get your greatest workout at home

Our team is dedicated to finding and telling you more about the products and deals we love. If you love them too and decide to purchase through the links below, we may receive a commission. Pricing and availability are subject to change.

You don’t have to join a gym to get in a good workout. Moving your body is totally free! You can run, ride a bike, dance or use your own body weight to strength train. However, check out the best exercise bikes below if you want a little extra motivation and to kick up the resistance.

The best exercise bikes are sturdy, durable and don’t take up too much room in your home. However, many of the bikes on this list also pair with a membership for classes with top-rated instructors (we’re looking at you, Peloton and SoulCycle at-home bikes). Classes — whether they’re live or on-demand — can help keep you motivated. Plus, they’re like, really fun.

So, take a look a look below at the best exercise bikes for getting in your greatest workout (one you actually enjoy) at home.

Shipping Time: 1–2 weeks

Size: 5.2 x 1.8 ft., 128 pounds

Membership Cost: $40 per month (*Equinox+ 12-month membership is required to access all SoulCycle content.)

SoulCycle is a popular cycling studio that got its start in New York City in 2006. Conveniently, its at-home bike launched in March 2020 at the beginning of the pandemic when its studios closed.

The bike is very sturdy and a sleek matte black color with a 21-inch touchscreen. You can virtually join live classes — where an instructor in NYC teaches a class of people from an actual SoulCycle studio — or choose from a long list of on-demand classes to take at any time of day. Classes range from 20 minutes to 60 minutes.

SoulCycle exclusively offers cycling classes, add-on arm strengthening workouts and a few stretching sessions. However, the SoulCycle classes are part of an Equinox+ membership, an app that also houses popular workout programs like Tom Brady’s TB12, Rumble, Precision Run, PURE Yoga and more. So, if you don’t feel like spinning one day, you can lift weights or take a yoga class using the Equinox+ app on your phone or iPad. Alternatively, if you want to save money, you can sign up for an Equinox+ membership and use it with a less expensive bike. (But according to one of our editors, the bike is actually top-notch.)

2. Peloton Bike+, $2,145 (Orig. $2,495)

Shipping Time: Under 2 weeks

Size: 4 x 2 ft., 140 pounds

Membership Cost: $12.99 per month, plus tax

Peloton was one of the very first exercise bikes to bring the spin studio home by way of live and on-demand classes. And the hype is real — its bike is actually great. Peloton released the Bike+, an upgraded version with a swivel screen, in September 2020. Compared to SoulCycle, Peloton’s Bike+ it’s a tiny bit smaller, it has red accents and it has a 23.8-inch anti-reflective touchscreen and the screen spins 360 degrees. The spinning screen is especially nice if you want to take Peloton’s off-the-bike classes on the floor.

In addition to cycling, Peloton offers bootcamps, strength training, yoga, dance, running classes and more. They also have several exercise programs you can sign up for. For example, there’s a four-week strength training program that offers set workouts to complete each day, as if you had a personal trainer.

You can also sign up for Peloton’s membership and use the app on your phone, iPad or TV to do classes with or without a bike.

3. MYXFitness MYX II, $1,149 with code GEARUP250 (Orig. $1,399)

Shipping Time: Within 2 weeks

Size: 3.4 x 1.7 ft., 135 pounds

Membership Cost: $39 per month

MYXFitness rivals Peloton and SoulCycle as a more affordable spin bike with an attached touch screen, combined with a digital workout program. Its bike comes with a 21.5-inch HD touchscreen that projects spin classes, as well as yoga, Pilates, HIIT, cardio, barre, kickboxing, dance and more. And the screen swivels and tilts, making it easy to see whether you’re on the bike or working out on the floor.

Its class app, called OpenFit, offers live classes, but there are no leaderboards. In fact, the MYX bike comes with a heart rate monitor and uses heart rate-based zone training, so the workouts and your progress are customized for your body and fitness level.

However, if you are a Beachbody BODi member (another at-home workout program), you can also connect your account to the MYX bike to take its cycling classes. (The BODi membership is separate and starts at $26.07 per month.)

Another nice perk: The bike comes in white or charcoal gray.

4. YOSUDA Indoor Stationary Cycling Bike YB001, $255 (Orig. $338)

Shipping Time: 1–2 weeks

Size: 3.3 x 1.8 ft., 73 pounds

Membership Cost: N/A

This YOSUDA Indoor Stationary Bike is definitely one of the most affordable bikes out there. Unlike the previous bikes on this list, it does not come with a touch screen or pair with a membership program for classes. However, it does have an LCD monitor to show your workout time, distance, speed, calories burned and an odometer. It also has a spot for holding an iPad if you want to use another exercise program to take classes (or watch Netflix).

The bike is incredibly smooth and sturdy, although pretty compact. You could easily slide this into your living room corner or an apartment bedroom. At only 73 pounds, it’s also a bit easier to move it around if you need to, compared to those with a screen.

5. Sole SB700 Bike, $699 (Orig. $1,399)

Credit: Sole Fitness

Shipping Time: About 10 days or less

Size: 3.3 x 1.6 ft., 141 pounds

Membership Cost: N/A

The Sole SB700 Bike is compact in length and width, but it’s a solid 141 pounds — this thing isn’t going anywhere. The added weight keeps your bike on the ground, no matter how much you move and jump around on it. It also has an incredibly smooth and quiet pedal stroke.

It doesn’t come with an LED screen or a membership for classes, but it does have a tablet holder and a console that displays RPM, time, calories burned, distance and speed. The console is compatible with a wireless heart rate chest strap too, if you want to train based on your heart rate zones.
