Brewing a single cup is great for people who only want one cup (duh), or one hot cup in the morning and another hot cup later, or live in a household where everyone prefers a different coffee flavor. It also ensures you always get the freshest brew rather than pouring from a coffee pot that’s been sitting on a warming plate for a few hours.
While Keurig is still one of the top coffee maker brands, there are several other companies that make single cup coffee makers as well, such as Nespresso and Ninja. You can find hundreds, if not thousands, of them on Amazon.

More than 27,000 Amazon shoppers give the Keurig K-Elite Coffee Maker 5 out of 5 stars in the reviews. It brews multiple cup sizes — 4, 6, 8, 10 and 12 ounces — but its removable 75-ounce water reservoir lets you brew up to eight cups before you have to refill it. Prefer your coffee extra strong? There’s a button for increasing the boldness of your cup, too. You can also use this machine for hot water on demand, like an electric tea kettle, but faster. Use it to make instant soups, oatmeal, tea and more.
2. Keurig K-Slim Coffee Maker, $99 ($119.99)
If you prefer a smaller machine that takes up only a little counter space, the Keurig K-Slim Coffee Maker is less than 5 inches wide. Although it has a fewer bells and whistles than the K-Elite, it brews 8-, 10- and 12-ounce cups of delicious-tasting coffee. It also has a removable drip tray so you can brew your coffee straight into a tall travel mug.
3. Ninja DualBrew Pro Coffee Maker, $179.99 (Orig. $229.99)
While the Ninja DualBrew Pro Coffee Maker may lack in Amazon reviews, it’s actually top of the line. You can use K-Cups to brew 6-, 8-, 10- or 12-ounce cups and ground coffee to brew nine more sizes, including a full carafe (which is included). You can do four brewing styles at the touch of a button: classic brew, rich, over ice or specialty. You may choose specialty if you want to make a latte or a cappuccino — there’s also a foldaway milk frother attached on the side to froth hot or cold milk. If you decide you want a cup of tea instead, you can use the machine for dispensing hot or boiling water as well. There’s really nothing it can’t do.
4. Nespresso Vertuo Plus Deluxe Coffee and Espresso Maker, $109
The Nespresso Vertuo Plus Deluxe Coffee and Espresso Maker makes, well, you guessed it — coffee and espresso. However, you need to purchase Nespresso’s Vertuo capsules to do so. (You can’t use K-cups or coffee grounds with this one.) That’s because Nespresso’s capsules have specific coding the machine reads to brew coffee at the perfect size and temperature, depending on the flavor profile. So, coffee capsules brew at a specific 7.77 ounces, while the espresso brew sizes start at 1.35 ounces. In turn, you get the absolute best cup of coffee. That also means there are no fancy buttons on this machine except for one that turns it on and also signals it to start brewing. It automatically shuts off when you’re done.
But just a heads up: This machine also comes with a separate Aeroccino Milk Frother for making specialty espresso beverages too.
5. CHEFMAN InstaCoffee Max, $39.99 (Orig. $59.99)
The CHEFMAN InstaCoffee Max is definitely the most affordable on this list. However, there are some key differences from the others. First, there is no water reservoir or buttons to choose your cup size. Instead, you insert a K-cup or coffee grounds in a reusable filter and pour your water into the machine like a standard coffee maker. It then brews whatever water is in the machine, up to 14 ounces. The more water you pour in, the milder your coffee will be and vice versa. It’s simple and compact, but most importantly, it works.
