5 basic foods that got serious glow-ups

If you’re not a totally adventurous eater, there are those tried and true foods that you always turn to. Like avocado toast, a BLT sandwich, or a Caesar salad. These are all low-risk crowd pleasers that you can rely on. But if you’re looking to get out of your food comfort zone without straying too far, there are ways to dress up these classics. Here are 5 basic foods that got serious glow-ups.

Avocado toast

Like the caption says, this is avocado toast… but make it pretty. The millennial favorite can easily be dressed up with some fancy slicing styles, a thick piece of high-quality bread, and sliced cucumber and radish shaped into flowers.

Grilled Caesar salad

Grilled romaine isn’t for everybody, but it sure looks fancy! Caesar salad can easily be enhanced with a delicious dressing, homemade croutons, and a little time on the grill. This might just be your next backyard barbecue staple!

Bacon, lettuce, tomato sandwich

Everyone’s favorite 3-ingredient sandwich smash hit can get the glow up treatment with some fancy mayonnaise (this filmer uses a garlic mustard aioli), fresh cheese, and bread slices grilled to crispy perfection.

Tomato soup

Roasted red pepper, garlic, onion, tomato, and fresh herbs like thyme and basil can really carry tomato soup into the fancy food realm. Once blended, add some heavy cream, tomato paste and balsamic vinegar to really kick things up a notch. Shredded parmesan and fresh basil are the proverbial cherry on top.

Instant ramen

There are so many ways to give instant ramen the gourmet treatment. Just fry up some of your favorite veggies—this filmer uses green onions, shiitake mushrooms, and celery—and then add some water and the soup powder. The filmer then cooks the noodles directly in the vegetable-filled broth and cracks an egg in to boot. The result is restaurant-style ramen right in your own home!
