Yahoo Finance 49ers rework RB Raheem Mostert's contract, so there will be no trade
It has been a whirlwind year for Raheem Mostert.
But after requesting a trade two weeks ago when he said his client wasn’t being paid enough, Mostert’s agent announced Monday on Twitter that the San Francisco 49ers running back isn’t going anywhere.

Mostert had been slated to earn $3.15 million this season and $3.5 million in 2021 after signing a three-year, $8.7 million contract with the 49ers in 2019 when he was originally brought in to be primarily a special-teams performer.
According to reports, Mostert has a child on the way and was seeking a deal north of what teammate Tevin Coleman, who is on the books for $4.55 million in 2020, will make. It appears he can make up the money — and more — by reaching benchmarks this season that could nearly double his salary.

What changed for Mostert, 49ers
Everything changed last season for the running back who had amassed a mere 297 rushing yards over his first four NFL seasons. Following a 261-yard season in 2018 in nine games for the 49ers, the 28-year-old Mostert became a key piece for the Super Bowl runners-up.
Mostert totaled 952 yards from scrimmage and 10 touchdowns during the regular season last year, with a huge chunk of that coming in the final six games. Then in the playoffs, Mostert reached his career peak: 344 yards from scrimmage and five touchdowns over three playoff games, including a 244-yard, four-TD performance in the NFC title game win over the Packers.
In the Super Bowl loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, Mostert ran 12 times for 58 yards and a late third-quarter TD that gave the 49ers their largest lead at 20-10.
Still, many assumed head coach Kyle Shanahan and the 49ers might call Mostert’s bluff. After all, this is a system that’s very friendly to running backs. The 49ers still have Coleman, Jeffery Wilson, Jerick McKinnon and a slew of college free agents on the roster.
Although the relationship between team and player appeared to be tense not long ago, Mostert and the 49ers reportedly were able to clear the air during a meeting last week, which clearly foretold this contract adjustment.
And with this reported financial boost, it appears that the 49ers have big designs on featuring Mostert for at least this season. They traded second-leading rusher Matt Brieda to the Miami Dolphins in the offseason and will need to replace his 142 touches from last season.
