40,000 Aussies eligible for $1,000 energy rebate
Queenslanders can get rebates for energy-efficient washing machines, fridges, dryers and more.
Queenslanders will be able to claim rebates of up to $1,000 to buy and install energy-efficient appliances, as part of a new cost-of-living measure.
Around 40,000 households in the state will be eligible for the new rebate from next month, which applies to washing machines, fridges, dryers, dishwashers, air-conditioners and hot water systems.
The rebate comes on top of the $550 electricity rebates offered to all Queensland households, and $1,072 rebates for senior and concession card holders.

The Queensland government estimates that Aussies who switch from 2-star to 4-star appliances could save hundreds - or even thousands - of dollars each year, and reduce Queensland’s CO2 emissions by thousands of tonnes per year.
“This rebate program not only helps Queenslanders purchase new household appliances, but it means they save money and help lower emissions for years to come,” Minister for Energy and Public Works Mick de Brenni said.
All Queenslanders will be eligible for the standard rebate, with higher rebates available for low-income households who meet the Low Income Tax Offset threshold of $66,667.
How to get the rebate
The Smart Energy Savers program will be available from September. Queenslanders can register their interest to be notified when applications open.
Rebates of between $300 and $1,000 will be available for eligible Queensland households who replace old appliances with 4-star-rated (or higher) appliances and hot water systems from September.
