There’s nothing like going to a spa and getting a nice body exfoliating treatment. It’s both relaxing and revitalizing. However, spa days aren’t always within reach for all of us—life gets busy, and they can rack up a heavy price tag for people who just want to relax on a budget.

If you want to replicate a little spa day in the comfort of your own bathroom, look no further. We've compiled three fantastic (and easy!) recipes for DIY body scrubs, featuring simple ingredients you probably already have at home.

Coffee DIY Body Scrub

Coffee can be so invigorating and smells delicious, which is part of the reason why it makes such a good exfoliant. According to Jennifer Yen, founder of Purlisse Beauty, who developed this recipe—coffee also helps reduce the appearance of cellulite. Best of all, there are only two main ingredients in the recipe.

  2. Put the coffee in a mixing bowl.

  3. Add an equal amount of coconut oil.

  4. Vigorously mix both ingredients with a spoon.

Brown Sugar DIY Body Scrub

Vance Soto, founder of  VSOTO and president of Ole Henriksen Face/Body Spa has a very simple recipe that’s inexpensive to make.

Ingredients

  • Coconut oil

  • Brown sugar

  • Vitamin E oil (optional)

  • Essential oil of your choice

Directions

  1. Soften 1 cup of coconut oil either on the stovetop or in the microwave. Make sure it isn’t so hot that it burns you. 15 to 30 seconds should be adequate for most microwaves.

  2. Combine the oil with ½ cup of brown sugar.

  3. Add 1 teaspoon of vitamin E (optional).

  4. Stir in ½ teaspoon of your favorite essential oil. You can’t go wrong with a relaxing lavender.

  5. Store the scrub in a glass mason jar.

Simple DIY Moringa-Eucalyptus Body Scrub
