From helping someone move house to assembling their Ikea furniture, Aussies are willing to fork out a lot of money to offload jobs they don’t have time to do themselves.

New data from Airtasker has revealed the most in-demand jobs right now and how much you can get paid for them.

The platform has released a new Services Calculator which looks at the average real-time prices people are paying for Airtasker services across different skills categories, from landscaping to cleaning to putting up someone’s Christmas tree.

“The top categories customers have been booking ‘Taskers’ for include removalists, gardening, cleaning, handywork, waste disposal, furniture assembly, pick-up and delivery, plumber and copywriting,” Airtasker co-founder and CEO Tim Fung said.

The severe shortage of skilled workers had driven up costs across the board, Fung said, leaving many Aussies unsure what to pay for services.

“While there are many variables with tasks - whether it be urgency, complexity and duration - we have taken this into account, providing both the lower and higher end of pricing on the Airtasker Services Calculator.”

It comes as a record number of Aussies take up side hustles, with 900,000 people working two or more jobs in the June quarter. This works out to 6.5 per cent of all employed people.

According to the Australian Bureau of Statistics, this is the highest rate since it started collecting data.
