Los Angeles Lakers legend Magic Johnson is set to host the fifth annual NFL Player’s Association (NFLPA) Pitch Day in the run-up to Super Bowl LV between the Kansas City Chiefs and Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Usually held on location of the Super Bowl host city, this year’s festivities will be virtual.

The event will feature pitches from six women- and minority-run early-stage business owners. Leaders from Just Women’s Sports, round21, Armored Things Inc., Fangage, Naturade and Monarc will introduce their products and concepts to an all-star slate of athletes, industry experts and investors.

Moderated by retired NFL running back Justin Forsett, the judges tasked with finding the next, great tycoon include retired NFL linebacker Brian Orakpo, four-time WNBA All-Star and WNBPA President Nneka Ogwumike, Chicago Sky guard Sydney Colson and wide receiver Golden Tate, who won a Super Bowl with the Seattle Seahawks in 2014.

“Becoming a businessman was always my dream,” said Johnson, who co-owns the Los Angeles Dodgers, the Los Angeles Sparks and the Los Angeles Football Club. “I was blessed to be able to leverage my platform as an athlete to achieve that dream and my mission of helping the underserved communities. The minority and women owned businesses participating in NFLPA Pitch Day have a unique opportunity to share their vision with industry experts and incredible athletes for valuable feedback and growth.”
