Black Panther, The Incredibles, the Avengers and even Venom – 2018 was a year for the superheroes.

These were the biggest movies of 2018 around the world, according to movie business resource, The Numbers.

10. Ant-Man and the Wasp

The Paul Rudd film about a superhero who can shrink to the size to an ant brought in $US621,956,028.

9. Aquaman

Only released recently, Aquaman has already made some serious runs on the board, bringing in $US639,885,000 worldwide.

8. Bohemian Rhapsody

It received middling reviews, but the Queen biopic drew the crowds with its iconic songs and compelling lead, Rami Malek. It brought in $US670,599,462 around the world.

7. Deadpool 2

Everybody loves Ryan Reynolds, it seems. The sequel to the darkly comic Deadpool raked in $US738,831,962.

6. Mission: Impossible – Fallout

The latest Mission: Impossible film from Tom Cruise made a smooth $US787,497,517.

5. Venom

Critically panned, fans of Tom Hardy and Venom’s titular antihero turned out in droves. It made $US853,028,270 around the world.

4. Incredibles 2

The long-awaited sequel brought in a staggering $US1,240,445,799.

3. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom

Chris Pratt plus dinosaurs. It was only ever going to be a huge success. The sequel to the first Jurassic World film made $US1,304,866,322.

2. Black Panther

The Wakandan superhero scored the highest box office sales in the US with $US700,059,566 to its name. Internationally it made $US1,347,071,259.

1. Avengers: Infinity War

The superhero movie with that ending made a whopping $US2,048,815,482.
