The 10 best audiobooks of 2018 -- just in time for a summer road trip

Like many Aussies, when I was a kid we used to go on a family road trip once a year. We'd drive three hours and a bit from Sydney down to Ulladulla -- stopping in beautiful township of Berry, or in Milton for their famous pies (this same store has been selling pies since 1870.)

This was the golden age, people.

I used to sit in the back of a somewhat clunky old Honda with faded orange interiors listening to a walkman that my way-too-cool mum would load up with songs. I read voraciously as a kid - the standard punishment in the home being eat your greens or have your book confiscated - but I always got a little car sick on these long trips.

What I would have given then for access to a platform like Audible.

The Amazon-owned audiobook subscription gives you access to over 200,000 titles. They have great celebrity readers who bring a whole new depth to your favourite series. (Unsurprisingly, Stephen Fry's soothing voice is a hit with listeners and I give 11 stars to his narration of the Harry Potter series).
