Victorians stuck in lockdown have been given a $1 gift - but it’s better than it sounds.
New telco Circles.Life is offering Victorians a $1 mobile phone plan, valid until the end of their lockdown.
The plan, which normally retails for $38 per month, offers a whopping 100GB of data as well as unlimited calls and texts until the end of lockdown, or 20 October 2020 - whichever comes first.
And, there are no lock-in contracts, so users can cancel the plan at any time.
The offer is only available to Victorian customers who switch their current number to Circles.Life, but the company said the process takes around five minutes.
After the end of lockdown, or 20 October, users can choose to leave, downgrade to the $28 plan, or stay on the $38 plan.
To sign up, Aussies can visit the site and transfer their number. Then, during the signup stage, they just have to enter the code VICLOCKDOWN to access the $1 plan.
"With a quarter of a million people stood down as a result of lockdowns, we know that many Victorians are doing it tough, which is magnified by the uncertainty around when lockdowns will end,” Circles.Life head of Australia, Kristen Holden said.
“Now more than ever, with the increased data usage that comes with everybody being stuck at home, keeping telecommunications affordable is vital to support Victorians to stay connected.”
Holden said the ‘no strings attached’ plan should alleviate the financial stress many Victorians are facing, and give them more power to manage their mobile expenses.
