The EPA Wants Greener Trucks. Why That’s Fine for Diesel Engine Giant Cummins.

The Environmental Protection Agency on Friday finalized its rules for greenhouse gas pollution for freight trucks, buses, and other heavy-duty vehicles, an industry long associated with high emissions. “There’s a lot of complexity to our business, but we’re investing,” says Brett Merritt, president of Cummins ’ on-highway engine business. The new rules—which apply to semi-trucks, buses, fire engines, airport shuttles, and other large commercial vehicles on American roads—run to almost 1,200 pages.
