T-Mobile Sees Room to Grow in Small and Rural Markets

T-Mobile disclosed recently that its share in small and rural markets has increased to 17.5% from 13%, and the company sees "a lot of room to run" within that segment, CFO Peter Osvaldik says at MoffettNathanson's media, internet and communications conference. The smaller and rural markets segment makes up about 40% of the U.S. population, providing a large cohort for T-Mobile to expand into, and the company's share of mobile plan switchers in those markets has doubled, he says. The CFO says that at a minimum, T-Mobile would like to get its share of the small and rural markets up to its "fair share of a third of the pie."
