Marcus & Millichap (MMI) CEO Hessam Nadji joins Catalysts to give insight into bank loans, the commercial real estate (CRE) market, and what real estate investors need to keep in mind. Nadji comments on CRE investing at a time when experts worry a crisis could be looming for the sector: "As a lot of people went on the sideline, the astute investor was in the market making offers, maybe not executing transactions, but being in the front end of where the prices would adjust to the point where they made sense. If you look at multi-family [housing], for example, we've seen 20 to 25% price correction in most cases." He continues: "So when you see a good asset in a market, you want to be in as an investor at those price points, you almost don't care about the interest rate. You almost don't care about the fact that the loan that you would take on would be at a much higher interest rate today than two and a half years ago, because interest rates will come in at some point." "I would rather hold rates until there is more certainty that underlying inflationary pressures have subsided sustainably."

NEW YORK (Reuters) -The 2021 collapse of Sung Kook "Bill" Hwang's Archegos Capital Management was driven by "lies and manipulation," a federal prosecutor told a Manhattan jury on Monday at his criminal trial over the $36 billion private investment fund's failure. Jurors heard closing arguments from the prosecution and defense in Manhattan federal court in the trial of Hwang and Patrick Halligan, his Archegos deputy and co-defendant. The trial centers around the implosion of Hwang's family office Archegos - a spectacular collapse that left global banks nursing $10 billion in losses and, according to prosecutors, caused more than $100 billion in shareholder losses at companies in its portfolio.
