'Incredibly satisfying' account dedicated to unclogging drains is TikTok's new comfort watch: 'I can't stop'

Unclogging drains may seem like a chore to you, but watching a stranger do it on TikTok is like therapy for millions of people.

If watching satisfying TikToks is your thing, then you’ll definitely want to give @unclogging_drains a follow if you haven’t already. The premise, as you might have guessed by now, is pretty simple: One guy films himself unclogging drains in real time as his viewers ooh and ah at the results.

If that sounds boring or gross, trust us when we say you need to see him in action before making any judgment calls. After all, there’s a reason this guy has over 1.7 million followers and counting — people are going crazy for it.

A recent mention on Twitter sparked renewed interest in the guilty-pleasure follow.

“the people who want to ban tiktok would think differently if they followed my favorite account, which is called @unclogging_drains,” tweeted @ScottNover, along with an example of one clip.

His tweet earned over 25 million views and thousands of comments from equally riveted Twitter users.

“Incredibly satisfying,” one person tweeted in reply.

“I have watched this four times,” another person admitted. “Each time, there is suspense and awe.”

“Thank you for sharing this!” someone else tweeted. “You unclogged my heart and drained away my boredom.”

Over on @unclogging_drains’ TikTok page, there’s plenty more where that came from.

In most of the videos, an unnamed man rakes leaves and debris away from clogged storm drains, which helps clear flooded roadways for drivers to get through.

In others, the man clears backed-up gutters to allow rainwater to flow freely and prevent water damage to homes.

But in almost every case, the account leaves its followers glued to their screens and usually wanting more.

“post 10 content,” one person commented.

“I wasn’t gonna follow,” said another, “but I can’t stop watching.. FINE! Followed!”

“You’re a legend,” someone else praised, “you made that roadway so much safer!”

As niche as this account may sound, it seems to have something for everyone. There’s also a strangely satisfying, ASMR-like quality that hooks you right away — whether or not you want to be. Luckily, TikTok is chock-full of these kinds of accounts, whether you love watching people refinish floors, clean dirty carpets or have an odd fascination with people who decorate and organize their fridges.
