The highly collectable swan dollar will be offered to numismatists, decades since its first appearance.

The new run of the coin is coinciding with Australian Coin Magazine’s 60th year celebrations this June.

The coin was first offered in 1967 as part of the magazine’s design competition.

The competition was taken out by artist and medallist Andor Meszaros, and over the years a run of the “swan dollar” – which was privately commissioned – became a collector’s item.

Example of the coin have fetched as much as $46,000 at auction.

To celebrate its 60th anniversary, Australian Coin Review has commissioned a new run of the coin, with the new edition to carry 2024 on its face.
