Further, WellPoint serves as an intermediary providing administrative service for the Medicare program that offers coverage for persons, who are 65 or older and for persons who are disabled or with end-stage renal disease. It markets its products through a network of independent agents and brokers, as well as through in-house sales force. The company was formerly known as Anthem, Inc. and changed its name to WellPoint, Inc. in November 2004. WellPoint was founded in 1944 and is based in Indianapolis, Indiana. |
