US shares pare gains ahead of jobs report; S&P +0.12%

The Dow Jones Industrial Average finished up 0.14 percent and the S&P 500 added 0.12 percent, while the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite lost 0.35 percent

US equity markets gave up early gains Thursday as investors turned cautious ahead of the August jobs market report, which could shape the Federal Reserve's upcoming interest rate decision.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average finished up 0.14 percent and the S&P 500 added 0.12 percent, while the tech-heavy Nasdaq Composite lost 0.35 percent.
