Twitter's CFO awkwardly tweets private message

Anthony Noto, now CFO at Twitter, sends accidental Tweet. Image: Getty.

It looks like even Twitter’s staff needs a lesson in how to use their own social media.

Twitter’s finance chief Anthony Noto has been caught out accidentally tweeting information that was meant for a private message.

And it wasn’t just any old tweet.

Noto tweeted what appears to be about a potential acquisition by Twitter.

"I still think we should buy them. He is on your schedule for Dec 15 or 16 - we will need to sell him. i have a plan," Noto's message said.

The message was posted on Twitter before being deleted, with Twitter spokesman Jim Prosser confirming Noto had intended for his message to be private.

It’s not clear which company Noto is interested in buying.

Earlier this year, Twitter CEO Dick Costolo announced his company was going to make Twitter easier to use.

Perhaps after the Noto mishap, that will make it to the top of his priority list.
